POSING FOR SELFIES

POSING FOR SELFIES We act differently when we know we’re about to be on display. Aim a camera at someone and they tense up. I guess we call it “taking” a picture for a reason. We feel defensive. Social media multiplies this by counting “likes” (which doesn’t mean someone actually likes us) or “friends” (which doesn’t mean that someone is actually our friend.) The irony is that the people we’re most likely to want to trust and engage with are the ones who don’t pose. They’re consistent, committed and clear, but they’re not faking it. Figure out what you want to say, the change you seek to make, the story you want to tell and then tell it. Wholeheartedly and with intent. Posing is unnecessary. Banks implement new CBN guidelines on debt recovery

Banks implement new CBN guidelines on debt recovery Deposit Money Banks on August 1 commenced the implementation of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Global Standing Instruction which allows them to recover outstanding debts of debtors from other banks. Experts who spoke to our correspondent said the implementation would help to differentiate real wealthy businessmen from debtor businessmen. A former President, Trade Union Congress, Peter Esele, said the guideline was long overdue but added that it was better late than never. He said, “The financial system has been abused and it is baffling that one man would be owing six banks in the same country; it can’t happen anywhere else. “What the CBN is doing now is that it is sanitising the industry and we now actually know who are the real businessmen and the real big men. “Some men are wealthy from running banks down because a lot of the big men are running banks down.” He said the CBN and the banks should start giving credit sco...

Shoprite to exit Nigeria

Shoprite to Exit Nigeria Reports say South African Company, Shoprite Holdings Limited, will be auctioning off its outlets in Nigeria. This is coming about 15 years after it opened its first store in Lagos in December 2005. The megastore company with presence in most Nigerian cities hinged this decision on the coronavirus pandemic which has disrupted major businesses globally. In an “Operational and Voluntary Trading Update (52 Weeks Ended 28 June 2020)” released on Monday, the company said it has been approached by “various potential investors”. The update partly read, “Despite difficult circumstances, in a year incorporating the COVID-19 lockdown and accompanying regulations governing trade, transport and operations, the Group increased total sale of merchandise for the 52 weeks to 28 June 2020 (including the impact of hyperinflation in the prior year) by 6.4% to approximately R156.9 billion. Like-for-like growth for the year was 4.4%. “Following approaches from vario...

Monday Motivation

Monday Motivation Steve Harvey You have a great life in front of you but your great life is in front of you, it's not behind you. What you did back there has got nothing to do with what God's got for you. What you did back there is learn the lessons to get you to where you are at this particular moment. Do you know that you can actually mess your life completely up?  You can jack it all the way up and you can turn it all around and get it right. Do you understand that you could have had a baby out of wedlock and still be alright, do you know that you can be divorced multiple times and still be okay? Do you know that you may not have a degree and still be just fine. Do you want to know how I know? Cause I am telling you what I know. I lost everything twice. I don't know if you have ever lost everything before but I have been bottom down, twice. I don't seem rock bottom two times but I have been through some walls in here. I'm just trying to tell you, God ...
